Fonts

Wed May 16, 2007, 6:34 AM
So, it's been a long time since my last update. Alot has changed since last time. I'm now almost up in a 100 watchers! Thanks to everybody for showing their support!

---

Anyway just fixed my hdd after it got messed up. It was a close call but i managed to back up everything important just before it died on me. So i'm back up and running now, with a clean install of xp, not quite time for vista yet. The clean install and formatted hd brings me to the real reason of my journal. Fonts. I need to rebuild my font database and your opinions would be of much assistance.

Fonts, when used right can be the difference between a working and beautiful design and a not that good one that often seems like it lacks something. I personally put a lot´of weight on the decision of what fonts to use. To me, content is so much more than merely information, in form o lines of text. To me it's one of the most important elements in the design itself. Though your alternatives are limited fontwise when designing the content, the fonts used in other elements need to work with the webstandard ones to create a good overall feel. Fonts are so much more than merely ways to show text. Fonts are ways to get a feeling across, to bring forth other elements of the design and to simply be the most important connecting element throughout the design.

So, what are your favorite fonts, which do you use most and why?

My favorites:
1. Fonce Sans by Ryan Ford
2. Helvetica
3. Myriad Pro
4. Arial (when used right)

  • Listening to: Pixies
  • Watching: Heroes
  • Eating: Tortillas
