The Daily Monster

Mon Aug 18, 2008, 4:27 AM
I came across this wonderful site just a few minutes ago.

Wired.com says:
"100 Days of Monsters

It's a blot, it's a blog, and now it's a book. When Stefan G. Bucher transformed random inkblots into bug-eyed freaks and posted a new creation each day at dailymonster.com, visitors to the site began hallucinating — er, imagining — backstories for his drawings. The book compiles fans' Rorschach-style musings on creatures like Eatus Yurheadus, Three-Legged Grinner, Horsequito, and Radioactive Mutant Spicedrop. Scrumptious."

It's really rather brilliant, and ever so inspiring. Made me want to start doodling immediately. Stefan really is a genius and with the stop-motion technique you can really see the monster being born. Highly inspirational and well worth a watch!

Just turned 18, which means i'm getting myself a car in the next few weeks, now there's gonna be alot of driving, cruising and speeding after that, and i'm kinda looking for some cool music to go with it. Partying naturally picks up during summer and some really cool/hot :D 'summery party songs' would be great as well. I know ya'll prolly have very different suggestions and opinions, but i'm pretty much open to anything, so don't hesitate to give suggestions!

To give ya'll a pointer here's a cd i just made for the car:

Pixies - Planet of Sound
Dead Celebrity Status - Messiah
Deftones - Be Quiet And Drive
Fatboy Slim - Gangster Trippin'
Prodigy - Voodoo People
DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train
The Crystal Method - Keep Hope Alive
Linkin Park - A Place For My Head
Fatboy Slim - Praise You (You've Come A Long Way)
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
Dead Celebrity Status - We Fall
Kazzer - Pedal To The Metal
Danko Jones - Baby Hates Me
Breaking Benjamin - Follow Me
Oasis - Wonderwall
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
Snoop Dogg feat. The Doors - Riders On The Storm

So, it's been a long time since my last update. Alot has changed since last time. I'm now almost up in a 100 watchers! Thanks to everybody for showing their support!

---

Anyway just fixed my hdd after it got messed up. It was a close call but i managed to back up everything important just before it died on me. So i'm back up and running now, with a clean install of xp, not quite time for vista yet. The clean install and formatted hd brings me to the real reason of my journal. Fonts. I need to rebuild my font database and your opinions would be of much assistance.

Fonts, when used right can be the difference between a working and beautiful design and a not that good one that often seems like it lacks something. I personally put a lot´of weight on the decision of what fonts to use. To me, content is so much more than merely information, in form o lines of text. To me it's one of the most important elements in the design itself. Though your alternatives are limited fontwise when designing the content, the fonts used in other elements need to work with the webstandard ones to create a good overall feel. Fonts are so much more than merely ways to show text. Fonts are ways to get a feeling across, to bring forth other elements of the design and to simply be the most important connecting element throughout the design.

So, what are your favorite fonts, which do you use most and why?

My favorites:
1. Fonce Sans by Ryan Ford
2. Helvetica
3. Myriad Pro
4. Arial (when used right)
